So lets say you’re moving multiple emails to a folder and Notes does its usual clocking thing, where all you get is an hourglass. And during that time you happen to click on another folder to get notes to stop what it’s doing, even after trying the ctrl+break, that seems to work less and less these days…now you’re whole pc is locked up for 5 minutes or more and when it’s finally restored you realize you lost the folder you were trying to move these emails to. Only under further inspection you understand you didn’t lose the folder it was just inexplicably moved to a “child” folder under one of your other folders. So what do you do? You can’t simply move that folder to the default Folder view and have it show up again as a folder…it will always display under another folder. This angers me to know end…
Subject: *a client of ours had similar experience. recommendation - don’t use drag and drop and get coffee during the hour glass session.
Subject: Excellent advice! : )
Subject: Actually, you can drag it back up to a higher folder
It’s tough to notice, but if you put your cursor right above the folder you will notice a very thin black line. This means the folder will move there.
In the small screen shot below, this would move the “Upgrade” folder outside and right above of the “Lotus” folder.
In earlier versions, to my knowledge, it can only be moved upwards in the folder list. If you were wanted to move it down in the list you need to move it into the folder that you wanted it to be above, and then move it back up, if that makes sense.
Subject: Agree. But there is a way to fix it …
Hi,
I agree that this is very annoying. And it has been this way for years ![]()
The problem is that you can not move a folder to the “root” via drag and drop or the right-click menu. The only way is to select your folder and then select from the menu “Actions\Folder Options\Move…” and then select the root entry “-Folders-”. And there it goes back to the 1-Level. But how are normal users supposed to find it there is beyod my imagination.
