This Forum vs Notes 6/7 Forum presentation

  • I recently started using the Forums “native”, using the Notes Client. It’s pretty slick!

  • But I notice with great consistency that this R8.5 Forum does not properly display the threads. For instance, the “Snow Leopard Support?” three from 8/28 looks like this:

There are 8 replies, but I only see two of them in the main view. These have no twisties, and they are not categories. Clicking on either of the two responses that are visible opens those responses, which one would expect. There are simply no responses to responses, it seems.

  • If I open that main topic (or either response) I see the embedded View with all 8 thread entries just like I should.

  • In the Notes 6/7 Forum database I would see all 8 responses in the main “Date (threaded)” view as expected. Same client; that’s the next tab to the right in the screen capture.

  • Does anyone else see this, or do I just have some setting off kilter?

Subject: You don’t have all the levels exposed

Those are the two “2nd level documents”.

There’s other documents under them, which you would see if you select the main document, and press * (on the numerif keypad) or use the menu View \ Expand/Collapse \ Expand selected and children.

I find it’s better to use these databases with every thread fully expanded.

The Notes 6/7 forum have twisties at every level… The Note 8 and 8.5 forums do not.
