"This agent must be run from a view window"

If I create an agent that runs on selected documents and name it say “Tools\un on Selected Document(s)” When I select documents in a view in the right frame of a frameset I get the message “This agent must be run from a view window.” The view was opened by clicking on an embedded navigator in the right frame of the frameset. Opening the view explicitly from “View\Go to…” and selecting documents works as a workaround but is this broken or designed behavior or am I missing something?

Apologies if this is a rehash of an old problem. It IS repeatable in R6, 7 & 8(.5) clients.

Subject: This has been the case for over a decade…

  • I can’t address user-defined Navigator usage, but I see this all the time with the “default navigator”, and have seen it as long as I’ve been using Notes. If another View is available (such as with the default navigator), then selecting any other View and selecting the “offending” View again should “fix” it, just like “View → Goto” does.- Hope this helps…
