The linked document cannot be found in the view

Hi can somebody help me with this error msg. “The linked document cannot be found in the view”

It appears when user is trying to open an email that has been replied to e.g. I receive an email and hit reply and send this email back, original sender replies back to me again and when I try to open email I am getting above mentioned error. Emails that are not replied to are just fine.

I checked all settings in the Lotus Notes and everything look ok. Opening email from another computer under that particular user id works just fine - no errors. So problem is on that particular computer. I deleted cache.ndk and restarted Notes but no luck. Replaced a template with a new one - still no luck. I tried running setup again and selecting repair option - did not help. Removed Notes from the computer but did not delete Data folder under C:\Notes\data, installed Notes again - did not help. Finally I removed Notes again but this time I deleted Data folder and installed Notes again and it solved a problem. So I have found a solution to this problem but I would like to know is there another solution for this problem, something that I can do so I do not have to reinstall Notes, and why is this problem happening at all. It happened so far on few different computers with different operating systems (Win 2000 Pro, XP Pro), and release of the Notes is 6.5.1, and this happened on single and also on multi user install.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

Joseph

When you deleted the local data directory, you deleted the local replica that the client was looking in to resolve the doclink. Without that local replica, the client resorted to looking at a server replica, and found the linked doc which hadn’t replicated to the local db.

I had this error msg on a user’s PC. Running XP and Notes 652. He could not open a reply document but I could open it from my workstation (accessing his mail on the server). When trying to open from his workstation, he got the error “The linked document cannot be found in the view”. Using some of the info in the forum, I replaced the mail template with R5. Then replaced with his normal Mail6 template. Same error. I opened his mail file in designer and found that there were 2 REPLY forms and 2 Reply with History Forms. One copy was from the R5 template, one copy from the r6 template. Don’t know if this was the root cause or effect of my design replace, but I deleted the old version of the form and now he works fine. I have no idea how the file could have 2 forms with the same name ! Anyway, this worked at my site, problem has not recurred., Hope this helps. Jayne
