I have some code that does a database search in a database in order to create reports. It might be possible that the text used to perform the database search contains parentheses in it and Lotus Notes doesn’t like that. When I tried to run a database search in the built-in search function, if I use parentheses, I get “Query is not understandable”. How can I change the text containing parentheses so that Lotus Script doesn’t complain about it?
Thanks for any help with this!
Subject: Text String with Parentheses in DBSearch
When using the Query capabilities in the Search Bar a query using quotes works:
“(Log)”
I am not 100% sure if it works in LotusScript. But anyway when trying remember that you might use different text delimiters (pipe signs or curly braces) then:
formula = |“(Log)”|
formula = {“(Log)”}

If I construct the search string automatically using code, how can I add the pipes or curly braces around it? Should I use string concatenation (+ sign)?
Thanks!
