Template list refresh problem

To anyone that may be able to assist…

I have a problem with the list of available templates in Notes not refreshing. I have a few databases that I have set as master templates on a server. I wish to use their design to replace the design on some UAT copies. When I select Database - Replace Design… I cannot find these templates at all in the list. Even if I select Show Advanced Templates (which they aren’t) or even if a have a local replica/copy with the template name set.

I have ticked the option ‘Database file is a master template’ and entered a unique name for the template, but I am not getting any new templates in the list. Even when I create a new database from a template, these new ones are not appearing in this list.

I have not had this problem before, previously templates appear in the list shortly after you make a database a template and I cannot find any help or guidance on how Notes generates this list of templates.

Can anyone provide some insight into why this might be, or how the template list is generated for Notes?

Any advice or assistance would be appreciated.

Dave.

Did you select the property “List as advanced template in ‘New Database’ dialog”?

I have tried that option, but still no luck.

I did manage to get the template to appear in the list on the local machine by the following:

  • Set the template name on the database

  • Make a design only local copy of the database with a .ntf extension

This only works locally though and is not my preferred option.

Thanks for the suggestion Rob.

The dialog only shows templates in the root of the server’s (or your local) data directory.

I appreciate your help, that was exactly the information I was after.
