First of all don’t go to CF1 go right to CF2, and I believe CF3 is due out almost any time now. CF1 was only out for a very short time before CF2 was released because of the problems that people encountered.

we’ve done this migration, too. And we got a lot of problems. For the migration of partitioned server it is important which OS You use. With Domino R602CF1 on Solaris9 we’ve got a lot of troubles. Domino R6 needs more message queues like Domino R5. You have to set kernelparameter for the maximum number of messagequeues in your /etc/system file on unixmachines. Without this parameter you are not able to start more than one instance at the same time. We are using R602CF1 on Solaris 9 partitioned at the moment. Since some month now without problems.
But we have migrated all three partitions at the same time. I think it is much more a problem to migrate only one of the partitions.

My server it’s IBM xSeries 345 with Windows 2000 Server.
So, on this server i want to migrate from Domino Application Server 5.0.11, a single domino server, to Domino Enterprise Server 6.0.2 with 4 partitioned servers.
One of this partitioned servers will be old single server 5.0.11, and next 3 partitioned server are new servers in my domino network.
If you have any another suggestion about my situation or if you know a book on web, but with more information (about migration from R5 to R6 partitioned servers) like Lotus yellow books, please tell me!

You can’t partition different version on Windows. This can only be accomplished on large UNIX type systems using domaining or LPARS. Also, Windows is far from ideal for partitioning. The hardware limitations are too much to overcome. Your CPU and memory utilization will usually get overloaded. You can do a 2 partition on Windows, and it will normally perform reasonably. Four partitions, however, will have performance issues.
