Telephony issue on Notes Client

Good day everyone,

We are currently having an issue with audio working correctly on the integrated sametime on our notes clients. Issue is that if a call is placed to another contact, the call connects but the notes client does not seem to detect audio devices so both parties can not hear each other, and once one of them hangs up the call, the notes client hangs and has to be terminated.

All sound devices work properly at the OS level, it is only the notes client that doesn’t seem to recognize them properly. Going into preferences and going to the sound alert section under telephony and audio, clicking on the speaker for each sound effect does not give any result, no sound comes out.

We are on SLED 11(which I am aware is not supported) but would like to know where I can start making changes to make it work, or what logs can i check to see what might be causing this issue.

Info on our setup,

Main Domino Server 8.5 on SLES 10

Sametime server 8.0.2 on Win2000

Notes Client 8.5 FP1 on SLED 11

Subject: Fixed… I think :S

Ok, so finally an update, we are all running gnome on our machines and had the pulse audio sound manager installed, we deleted all libraries and packages related to it and replaced it with esound. The calls now go trough and we can hear each other on the other end of the line, terminating the call doesnt make notes hang anymore. Hope this info helps.

Subject: another update

Have tried it with different codecs under Sametime configuration and it only works with GIPS iSAC… hope this helps in any way.
