Does anyone know of a technically accurate white paper out there anywhere that documents specifically what you gain or lose in a conversion from Notes Domino to Exchange-Sharepoint.net?
I have had to deal with increasing ignorance among my Notes clients who poorly understand the Notes software they already own. These clients are very sensitive to marketing, and increasingly bash Notes and convert to MS Exchange and/or Sharepoint/ .net, but cannot explain why they made the decision. Their attitude is one of annoyance coupled with, “… Well, it’s Microsoft!”
IBM does not provide this information to support its tool.
When considering these migrations it is always a challenge to determine the right solution. The migration of data from Notes to SharePoint is very simple, and in fact you can move forms, views, and formula language from Notes over to SharePoint easily.
Where the problems lie is in the workflow and automation that may be in your custom applications. These are elements that need to be recoded. Nothing is going to take a custom built Lotuscript agent and recode it into .NET or into Visual Basic. You need the source code and the flow of the object to redesign it.
