Table borders

Can someone tell me how to set the style and colour of the borders of a table created in lotusscript. I want to remove the borders or set their colour to match the cells for an edge free look.

Thanks

Subject: Table borders

Gordon,

There are several threads in this forum that address this topic. In version 6.x I have battled this issue myself and found that the easiest work around is to place a table which is formatted the way that you want on a conveniently accessible document somewhere in your database (I put mine on a profile document) and use that as a starting point for building up your output table. The basic process is as follows:

  1. Get profile document

  2. Grab the contents of the rich text field with your “template” table in it into a NotesRichTextItem.

  3. Create a rich text item on your output document.

  4. Use the appendRTitem method of the NotesRichText class to copy your “template” table into the rich text field on your output document.

  5. Add rows on as needed. Any new rows will pick up the formatting from your “template” table.

Alternatively you can talk to the good folks at Geniisoft and use Midas, which gives you much more control over rich text content than the native LS rich text classes and is dead simple.

If you are in a particularly masochistic mood, you could try building the table with the default formatting, exporting the rich text field to DXL, adding the required attributes to the

and/or
tags to turn the borders off, and then importing it back in.

Thanks Dave. Painful, but it works.
