By default how do front and backend documents synchronize?
A. Front end changes automatically appear in the back end
B. Changes are syncronized automatically in both directions
C. Back end changes automatically appear in the front end
D. There is no automatic synchronisation in either direction

If you access a backend document from it’s front end document then by default, changes to fields on the backend document appear in the front-end document automatically.
e.g.

Dim ws as New NotesUIWorkspace
Dim uidoc as NotesUIDocument
Dim doc as NotesDocument
Set uidoc=ws.currentDocument
Set doc=uidoc.document

uidoc has an ‘Autorefresh’ property which can be set to ‘false’ if you don’t want the backend updates to automatically pass to the front end.
The exception to the rule is rich text fields. These do not automatically refresh and how you handle this depends on the version of notes that you are using. There are lots of posts in this forum about how to do this.
