Our situation: We will migrate/change about 9.000 users from Domino Web Access 6.5.4 (FF1.5/RHEL) to Lotus Notes Standard Client 8.5 (RHEL).
Why is the synchronize contacts feature not activated as a default setting? All those users need their contacts. Meaning what, use policies to set this? Is there a policy to set this?

The reason the option is not on by default is because not all users/devices would want to synch contacts, more specifically for small devices like Blackberry’s, etc.
This would have to be pushed down via a policy for which there is an existing SPR#VSEN72KMLX to handle the future enhancement request.
Subject: So, there is no workaround?
This means, there is no policy for this in 8.5, no notes.ini setting or such thing.
Meaning, that over 8.000 users have to set that manually. Yep, that will totally increase the acceptance. That is so not “Don’t make me think”.
So, our only hope/chance is a client management tool, which will be there for Linux Clients before this future enhancement comes to life in the Standard Client.
