Synchronising changes made on Notes client with a Blackberry

Firstly, I am not a notes admin - but a user of Notes and of a Blackberry linked to my Notes mail and Calendar. I am asking the question as a user to know if this is doable.

Are there settings that will allow you to perform document filing on the notes client and have this replicated on the Blackberry?

At the moment this replication happens only if you perform filing on the Blackberry and not if the action is done on the Notes client.

To illustrate - when I get emails into my inbox I tend to use the Blackberry to file them in email folders, that way they are available on the Blackberry for search etc. This filing is replicated on the Notes client - so it happens in both Blackberry and Notes. However if I file them using Notes client into email folders they are filed in the Notes client but the filing is not replicated on the Blackberry.

Subject: blackberry sync

I looked at http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/

and it doesn’t look hopeful for either of your posted questions.

According to Blackberry “Email messages that are older than the activation date are ignored by design.”

One technote says “Public and private folders cannot be wirelessly synchronized with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server software versions 4.0 and 4.1 because the folders do not reside in the BlackBerry user’s mailbox.” It gives instructions on how to use the desktop software to do so.

The BES 5.0 admin guide says "The BlackBerry® Enterprise Server reconciles the status of messages between users’

BlackBerry devices and their email applications. If users delete, archive, or move

messages to personal folders in their email applications, the messages are deleted

from the message list on the users’ BlackBerry devices. If users mark messages as

read or unread in their email applications, the messages appear with the same

status on their BlackBerry devices."

This would seem to be what you are talking about - it doesn’t put it in a folder, just removes from inbox. It sounds like Inbox and maybe Sent are sync’d. There’s a lot of tech docs on sync for contact fodlers, but nothing about mail folders.

Maybe a more experienced BES admin can chime in, but I’m not seeing anything about sync for mail folders.
