Switching from wireless to wired on OS X is painful

On Mac, when you plug-in a network cable, the computer recognizes it as a faster network and switches all network traffic from AirPort to the Ethernet port. All applications maybe pause for a second but then recognize and pick up the new connection. The only exception is the Lotus Notes client. When I try to open the next email, it freezes for quite some time, trying to figure out what happened to the server. After a while it tells me that the server is not responding and offers to switch to another replica. I click ‘Cancel’, double click on the email again and this time it opens.

Very annoying. And rather confusing to the end users.

The client should do a better job handling this.
