We’re looking for feedback from administrators using DAOS. Do you have what you need to do your job?
DAOS provides information about the status of the repository (tell daosmgr status), and through the admin client views (DAOS on/off, # bytes in DAOS), and the state of DAOS can be manipulated using compact and daosmgr.
If you’ve been using DAOS, what information/commands do you feel are missing (or need improvement) that would prevent or delay implementing DAOS in your production environment?
Subject: Provide a command that allows to identify the NSF from an NLO object
I had a case where a user attempted to save a mail with a 340 MB attachment several times. This 340 MB file was added to the DAOS directory 10 times. We managed to identify the user causing this in the file view in the admin client based on the huge DAOS size and the fact we had only started to use DAOS. I can imagine that for a smaller file size and with more objects in daos, we might need a server command that would allow to list the nsf files taht are linked to an NLO object
I support Jos’s proposal. We ran into the same problem (with a small file) and we couldn’t find any easy way to identify which database was holding the references.
We finally managed to do it using the LISTNLO command and scripting.
…would be pretty useful, I think. The database inventory should show both the logical size and the physical size for each database, plus being able to trend the growth of the DAOS store itself would be invaluable for capacity planning.
Subject: Ability to exclude certain database files
It would be good if we could exclude a database as I have one important db that has duplicate attachment names, but the actual attachments are different.
