For the past months or so, I have experimented using SURunAsWizard to upgrade our Notes Client from 7.0 to 7.0.2 Below is my observation
- SURunAsWizard work best on full installer.
You can attach upgrade installer to the Wizard, the resulting files work fine but the client is not upgraded.
- You must use the correct type of installer, depending on the type of client you wanted to upgrade.
A client only installer to upgrade a client only instalation, a full client installer to upgrade a full client installation.
- The installer file name must retain the original filename (CXXXXXXX.exe). Don’t rename the file or else you will get the error “Cannot find specified resource”
I have verified that the filename can be changed to other names. The above eror appeared when the name is too long (I originally use the full title as the filename i.e Lotus Notes Client 702 for Windows 2000_XP Pro_XP Tablet PC English(C94QIEN).exe)
- You must use ALLUSERS=1 on the command line parameter. A full silent install parameter would be as follows -s -a /s /v"ALLUSERS=1 /qb+"
