Sun Java Console? messin' with Java Applets on Domino

I have had this issue on a few different platforms… it seems some IE Browsers have coaxed the user into downloading the Sun Java Console… and once they have this, the Java style Action bars in Domino applications no longer display. Has anyone else had these issues? and how do you deal with it?

If I remember correctly Ruth - you can go to Internet Explorer - Tools/Internet Options then Advanced - Scroll Down and their is a section Java (Sun) (on machines where the sun bit is installed and causing problems) and Microsoft VM - you can untick the java sun bit and make sure JIT compiler is ticked under Microsft VM.

You may need to restart machine after these changes.

You will find this increasingly as the latest build of XP no longer ships with a VM at all (part of the Sun/Microsoft Java settlement), but instead they have Sun Java installed. My own new laptop recently purchased does this.

I think it may be possible to add the Microsoft VM to such machines for now, but probably not for much longer. So what is needed is a foolproof way of ensuring that IBM/Lotus Java applets work properly in the Sun JVM.

Subject: getting Sun Java to display domino applets correctly

There is a particular release of Java that works with Domino applets. It came with Netscape 7.02.
