Summary flag on author/reader field

We have a DB where users are listed in author/reader fields by name. Groups and roles are used too (for admins and so) but due to security requirements, common users are listed by name and I cannot imagine how to implement them by groups/roles.It works fine, since now there are only cca 400 users.

But I wonder what will happen when it will be released for all >1500 users. Now the fields have cca 6 kB, and SUMMARY flag is set ON.

When I tried to remove SUMMARY flag, the fields stopped working as Author/Reader at all. So that flag is probably necessary.

My question is: are Author/Reader fields included in the Summary data limits for fields and document data ?

(IBM Lotus Notes/Domino Limits)

And how to deal with really big Author/Reader fields ?

Thanks.

Are Author/Reader fields included in the Summary data limits for fields and document data? Yes. In order to accommodate the scenario you’re describing, a combination of groups/roles and user names would probably work. For instance, it is highly unlikely that you’d ever run into a situation where 1499 of your 1500 users would have access to a document (leaving only one non-reader), and even if that were the case, you could list all of the roles the unfortunate fellow didn’t have, along with any individual names he shared all roles with.

Could you use more than one author / reader field?
