Subform xyzzy not loaded, why?

I am getting a error on the status bar that says, “Subform xyzzy not loaded”, when I open a doucment in the client.

The subform contains HTML which is used in the browser only so it really does not matter if the form is loaded or not in the client because it works fine in the browser.

I know I could use computed subforms here but I just wanted to know what would cause this error.

I came across such error for a computed subform when the computed formula has errors in it. Are you sure that this is not a computed subform?

There is a bug in the 6.5 code stream (not sure if it has been fixed in 6.5.5 or not) so we recommend that subforms be inserted by formula. The problem generally involves fairly complex subforms with nested tables and hide-whens and also generally crashes the client. If the subform is not needed in the Notes client then I would insert it in subform with a formula that checks the client type and returns xyzzy for the Web client and “” for the Notes client.

However, I suspect that your problem is related to setting the subform as being visible to the Web client but not the notes client. Look at the view of the subforms and see if it is set for just for the Web client. A neat trick that we use is that we have two subforms with the same Alias one is set as visible to the Web client and the other to the Notes client the insertion formula is just the Alias name so it always loads the correct formula for the client.

Bruce,

May not be a bug but as Bill said it might be a problem with the setting of subform to be used in webclient. Here is what you can do:

Check the design properties of ‘Notes’, ‘Web’ and ‘Mobile’ for form and subform. My guess would be for Subform, ‘Notes’ might have not set as you are using this for the webclient. Hence, if you are using the same form for both web and client, you can insert subform based on a formula and make sure that it will not load if it is a notes client.

Not sure what the problem was but all I had to do was to remove it from the form, cut everything from the subform, paste it back in and add it bac to the form.
