Subect Field is missing while Forwarding

While forwarding emails the subject field goes missing. We have a notes client which was running R.8.0.2 and we upgraded it to R.8.5 but the problem is still there.

Server mailfile is fine…the problem is with the notes client. We have installed it on a fresh laptop, re-installed notes client but no luck.

I have not been able to reproduce your problem; could you please provide more information:

  1. What type of message are you forwarding? In other words, was it from the internet (MIME) or an internal Notes message?

  2. Open mail and click More / Preferences and let us know what selections you have made on the Mail / Basics tab of the preferences dialog box.

  3. Are you using 8.5 or a later upgrade (e.g., 8.5.1, 8.5.2, etc)?

  1. This is happening with all the messages, User clicks on the forward and then he can’t see the subject bar so cant modify subject.

  2. Following fields are selected/filled : Owner, Outgoing mail checking (both options), View and Folder Mgmt (Unchecked : Allow others to recall sent to me) and at last following are selected: Ask me and Ask me if I want to remove or delete.

  3. We are using R.8.5 client.

try this: put your cursor into the body of the posting, and select File/ImportSelect the picture file and click OK

or, try copying it to the clipboard and pasting it into the posting.

These may or may not work from the Web. (I’m accessing the database through Notes.) Is there an Attach button on your copy?

If none of the above works, post it on an image-website (such as Shutterly) and post the URL link here.

Another thing which i tried to make the subject bar appear.

I did notice that if I dragged the sidebar panel (Sametime) left or right it made the subject line appear as if it was making room for it.

Once it appears it stays in place. But once she restarts, the issue comes back.

This is happening even with a new message (composing a blank mail) as well as forwarding and affecting only one particular user.

Subject: if happening to one particular user only…

a couple of things to try:

  1. Exit Notes.

  2. rename cache.ndk

  3. Relaunch Notes.

See if it fixes the problem

or

  1. Exit Notes

  2. make a backup copy of notes.ini

  3. Edit notes.ini and delete all contents beneath the variable DIRECTORY=

  4. Relaunch Notes and run through Setup

Now that I understand better the problem you are experiencing, I am still unable to reproduce it. Is there any additional information you can provide as to exactly what you are doing?

This is what I tried:

Logged in to Sametime

Opened Mail

Preview pane is closed

Clicked on a message and clicked Forward - Forward With Attachments

Forwarded mail message appeared with Subject field visible

Opened a message (as if reading it)

Actions - Forward

Forwarded mail message appeared with Subject field visible

Tried both of the above while the Sametime window was set very wide
