Strange SMTP problems

I’m about to go nuts here over one of our domino servers. Its upgraded to 8.5.2, and i have installed the latest hotfix. The problem is that the smtp task still eats up CPU. It starts out nicely and can go for an hour or more, but after a while it starts hogging cpu and don’t seem to release it. After some time it will end up at 100%, the server don’t crash and its still sending and recieving mail. I have tried to debug, and i can’t seem to find any errors that might cause the problem. The server was stable for some time after the 8.5.2 upgrade, these problems came out of nowhere a couple days ago. Im wondering if it could be some kind of spam / virus attack on the server. But i can’t see anything from the logs that tell me that. Kinda lost here… Open for any suggestions that might help here.

Subject: Bug in 8.5.2 Interim Fix

Hi,We have encounter serious issues with the IF with the HTTP or SMTP or IMAP task ( on Windows or Linux OS )

It brings our server to 100% CPU and hangs.

A PMR is open at IBM.

We have stopped our Lotus Domino 8.5.2 installations.

Hope IBLM will find a fix ASAP

Subject: could be http

It does not apply to the known problem with smtp. But it could be http that is causing it. I have spent most of the day trying to debug smtp, and cant find anything in there. The server can be stable for one hour, and then the cpu hits. Will try to remove http task and see if that works better for a while. We enabled http the day we upgraded to 8.5.2, and it has been running stable till last week. Thanks for the response.

Subject: Downgrade server

Are there any safe way to downgrade the server back to 8.5.1? I did a attempt, but got scared and upgraded again before running the server to long:)

Subject: removed http

Tried to remove. But the same is still happening. Got told it could be some kind of a mail loop somewhere in the system that’s causing it. Anyone had problems with that?

Subject: SMTP problem 8.5.2

I ended up downgrading the server to 8.5.1. The fixpack did not help. And removing http or imap didn’t help either. Have read several places that im not the only one with this problem. So i hope a better fixpack is out soon.
