Strange Outline problem

Situation:

I have an outline with about 100 entries, distributed on 5 levels.

All entries have hideWhen formulas, which depends upon a fieldvalue. Not all entries are visible at the same time.

The Problem:

Sometimes some entries seem to hop over others, when I expand them.

Try to illustrate it:

MainLevel1

MainLevel2

MainLevel3

Now i try to open MainLevel2

MainLevel1

MainLevel2

+SubLevel2 A

MainLevel3

+SubLevel2 B

+SubLevel2 C

→ SubLevel2 B and C should appear under MainLevel2, but they don’t.

Anybody had this problem before?

Kind regards

Subject: Strange Outline problem

Can’t say I have, but I wouldn’t put it past the outlines. They are really problematic I’ve found. Also, keep in mind that the ouline is actually above the form in heirarchy, so some entries might not “see” the fields you are changing. I came across this problem with it and thus migrated away.

Currently I use a different method, faster, and not problematic. Yes, it takes a bit more work, and could even be setup to be programmatic if you have the desire to customize, but it gives you control. Let me know if you want it and I’ll send along the code.

I have actually had this problem in designer! I’ll get repeated chunks like forms over and over then lose everything else. I have to remove the bookmark and re-add it. Not sure how you can redo your outline, though, short of just deleting it and redoing it which with that many would be really nasty!

It is used for a portal. So the outlines are dynamic, defined through documents and used for a dynamic menu. Are there any other options to accomplish this goal?
