Strange email address formatting - Possible PMR?

Hi,Since upgrading our domino servers from R8.0.2 to R8.5 we are experiencing a problem whereby one of our users email address is incorrectly formatted when sent to external recipients.

This is the only address that is experiencing issues and co-incidently is also the only address to use the european character set (é characters).

The domino servers have the correct global domain document to format the address as follows:

“Jane M. Doe” JMD@acme.com

I have also got “Lookup Internet Address for all Notes addresses when internet address is not defined in document” set to enabled along with “Perform exhaustive lookups when converting Notes addresses to internet addresses”…

Her location document displays the correct email address and I have also set “Actions\Advanced\Set Update Flag” to no on the location document.

When I look at the field content of the email received by the remote server the from address is incorrectly formatted.

I cannot copy the exact field for privacy reasons.

So for instance the username is Joe Doé.

The sending domain name is RealDomain.com and the receiving host is spam.OtherDomain.com

The “from” field in the recipients mail box will look like:

=?windows-1252?Q?=22Joe_Do=E9=22_=3C=40RealDomain?=.=?windows-1252?Q?=2Ecom=3E?=@spam.OtherDomain.com

In the recipients inbox it will display as:

“Joe Doé @spam.otherdomain.com

The return address field will display jdoe@realdomain.com

This is not a machine specific problem. If I send an email from her mail box using a different PC (running Vista not XP) the from address is still formatted incorrectly. If I then send an email from the same PC using my mail file the from address is correct.

I have replaced the design of the mail file with two different templates.

I would appreciate any ideas on what is going wrong!!

Thank you!

Subject: Strange email address change - Same problem here

Do you have a solution for this, for I have the same problem with one user after an upgrade our Domino server from 7.0.3. to 8.5

Subject: “Multilingual Internet Mail” setting in the “Message Disclaimers” caused the problem

Then we changed the field “Multilingual Internet Mail” from “Use Best Match” to “Use Unicode (UTF-8)” in the “Message Disclaimers” section/tab on the Policy, Mail Settings document the problem was solved.

Subject: Solved!

Thanks for your reply. We also uses the mail policy to add a disclaimer to outging SMTP-mail. After changing the setting it seemed solved!
