_Stored Form Increases Size

Hi All

I am having a strange unexplainable affect. I have built a survey application where i send survey using lotusscript doc.Send(True, jjj)…The form is thus attached to the outgoing mail.

This survey has a Forward feature by which user can forward this survey to another user. In the forward code i get handle to this survey remove some values entered by user and pass it to the forward to address specified using doc.Send(True, jjj)

The unexplainable observation is the original survey size is 900K whereas the forwarded survey is only 400K. On doing a teamstudio delta on the two surveys (original and forwarded) the extra size in the original documents seem to be coming from _StoredForm fields.

Can any one tell me whats happening here.

Most probably, the Forwarded form being stored is not your original, but rather the Memo form Once you forward, the association with the original form is lost.

Hi

Thanks for the responses.

I did realise what error i was making.

I am was using doc.Send (True,…) while

forwarding a survey which technically, I think confuses notes on what form it really has to attach.

So I guess it justs picks bits and pieces of the originally attached form and sends it across. While doing that all the _StoredForm fields are wiped out reducing the size almost 50% in my case it reduced from 900K to 420 K.

Strange thing is the forwarded survey doesn’t loose any UI or original code. This might be pure luck !

Now i am passing False as parameter to the .Send calls used in forward code and now the size doesn’t vary its 900 K all the time.

You would be loseing anything not related to the “look” of the form. Off the top of my head …

Field validations

All Events (form and field)

Form actions

etc…

Siddharth,

I’m not sure I understand your confusion. If you store the form, then there is a lot of overhead to maintain the position of everything, the field names and values and data types, buttons, etc… If you simply forward that form as an email then that overhead can be released, although the look of the form might still be there taking up some space.
