Hi all,Does anyone knows where the right sidebar appearance settings (Open, thin, closed) are stored?
I would like to preset the sidebar for the users as open (without notes policy).

Hi Barbara,
Although you need to be careful you can edit an xml file which will reset the sidebar to open mode.
The file name is com.ibm.rcp.platform.personality.config.xml
This file contains information about the various states of the sidebar but also keeps track of the various toolbars in Notes and Symphony and also various settings for views. So, before making any changes I would suggest you backup this file incase you want to retain your latest settings. Note: this file does get backed up with a bak extension however it can never hurt to have another backup.
This file is located in the data\workspace folder…
data\workspace.metadata.plugins\com.ibm.rcp.personality.framework\personalityWindowState\com.ibm.rcp.platform.personality.config.xml file
Search for SidebarState and change the value for LAYOUT_WIDTH_DATA=“186” and also width=“186”. See example 1 below.

Thanks for providing this solution John. My sidebar stopped working a while ago (somehow it became disabled and the arrow allowing it to be expanded or opened didn’t appear either). I overwrote the line of XML with one of the lines you provided and it came back to life. FYI the XML in my [bad] configuration read:

My intention is to display the “open” sidebar during setup the Notes-Clients.Is it possible to set the sidebar to “open” using a desktop policy ? Maybe using “Managed Settings” ? If yes, how.
