Is there a way to have the Notes client open the Inbox tab instead of the Home tab at startup?
Subject: Inbox as home page
Click the Open menu and right-click on the Mail icon at the topSelect “Set bookmark as home page” (towards the bottom of the menu)

Yep 
Right-click the Inbox icon in the bookmark bar, select “Set Bookmark as Homepage”. That should do it.
You can make any database the homepage using this method.
