Standard upgrade waiting period?

Hi All,

I’m about to upgrade out mission critical server from 5 to 6.0.2. Now

6.0.3 is out or I could get 6.5. The last ones are very new. I’m

wondering if people out there have a standard waiting period they use to

monitor the Lotus Forums and other testing to see if an upgrade is stable.

Thanks

I agree - it does come down to gut feeling. However, I would install 6.0.3 as 6.0.x has been around for a while. If you are going to go straight to 6.5, you must build a test environment with valid up-to-date data so you can test the update and sort out any issues before you tackle your live environment.

Also, I would read the Domino R6 upgrade redbook which will talk you step by step for the upgrade.

Jaime,Thanks. The Redbook is great I’ve used it in the past.

We normally wait a few point releases to install a completely new version e.g. 5.0.2 or 6.0.2, however I think it comes down to gut feeling. Not very scientific but that’s how it is. It’s about feeling right about the upgrade. For others I would say that it depends on the number of “non-standard” stuff you have running such as “hacks” in applications and third-party products installed.

As to 6.5 I think that if you consider going from R5 to R6 you might as well go directly to R6.5.
