Standard installed but want web browser to launch the Basic client

I have Notes 8 Standard installed and running Windows XP. I have Notes set in IE and Firefox as my default mail client but I don’t want it to launch the Standard version if I try and send an email through either of those - I want it to launch the Basic client. I’ve searched on the forums and google but with no luck.

I’m guessing there’s a registry key somewhere that needs to be changed but I don’t know where to start. Any help would be outstanding.

Thanks!

Subject: I don’t have an answer, but it would make even sense to do it more granular:

a) if nlnotes.exe is running, use whatever client is up.b) if not allow a choice (setting) of all client types - including dwa and dwa lite

Subject: A little more clarification on “b”

Notes wouldn’t be running and I don’t see how “b” is even possible.

Thanks for taking the time to offer a suggestion though!

Subject: Well with exactly the setting you are looking for (not sure if it is there).

Subject: Solution

With Firefox you do a search for “mailto” in the Applications tab and then “Choose Other” and point to nlnotes.exe

With IE you have to change the registry value found here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE|Classes\mailto\Shell\Open\Command

Thanks to Nathan T. Freeman and Paul Mooney for their help.

Oh man… I just replied to your email David and blogged this solution too! Should have looked here to see if anyone posted the response. Oh well, hopefully others will find it useful from my blog too!
