SSL and login forms only

I know there was no way to easily do this in 5.x, but I’m wondering if that’s the case for 6.x. What we need (and I’m surprised it’s not a common requirement) is to have only the login page (for the passwords) secured with SSL for web login. We don’t want to turn on SSL/https for everything, because of the slowdown seen in encrypting everything (such as iNotes mail, etc.).

Under 5, I have seen a complicated method for using different databases for a redirected form from the login page in domcfg; I hope there’s an easier method. At LS2003, a Lotus person recommended turning on the ‘Require SSL’ for domcfg.nsf, where the login forms are, but that doesn’t seem to work.

Any new methods to do this with ND6? Thanks!

My only experience is with the R5 method of javascript redirects in the customlogin form.

However, you might look at DSAPI for a more straightforward method – or web site rules, which are new in D6.

Thanks for the info… I’ll pass it along to the web programmers.

Lee,

The example database “Domino Custom Login Forms” in the Sandbox made for custom login forms will probably do exactly what you want.

Good luck,

Thanks for the info! I’ll take a look at that… (I still think this should be an out-of-the-box feature!
