SQL Server 2000 - Relay SMTP Mail

Hi to you all,

I installed a plug-in on our MS SQL server platform. I should now be able to send “SMTP based” mail. Now I need to configure our domino server to relay this mail.

The mail is not supposed to be send out to the internet. All maill recipients are local users on our domain.

I am completely new in doing such configuration work on a domino server, so I was hoping you guys could help me.

I’ve been searching this forum for a while, but can’t seem to find something to matches my specific needs.

Any help is surely appreciated.

If possible, please detailed instructions (or topics in the help files) how to set up the server.

what plu-in did you install? and I’m not sure I understand what you trying to relay? are you going to send email using MSSQL mail or SQLAgent and relay thru your Domino server? if so you need to configure POP3 on domino. Microsoft does not support using SQL Mail to communicate with mail servers such as Lotus Notes, Lotus cc:Mail, or Novell GroupWise unless they are treated as POP3 servers.see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/263556

Thanks for your reply.

Plug-in is maybe a “BIG” word. In fact it’s a dll. A stored procedure using this dll generates a STMP based mail (if you want all the details → Dumpster & Co. - Find A Dumpster Company Near You).

So it’s not MSSQL mail or the SQLAgent.

Hope this helps you in pointing me in a good direction.
