I am running MAC OS X Panther 10.3.2 with Notes clients 6.5 for MAC.Application runs fine except when I create a new memo and do a spell check, I get a message “Error during main dictionary spell initialization” Anybody have any idea how to fix this?

Hmmm… no real ideas other than checking that you actually have the dictionary file(s) installed – I’ve been caught out by that before on a PC installation…

Hi all folks, have a look to the 20.April.2004.
Bye, Lutz
…
Hi I’m back,
I think the problem is, the multiuser installation with read/execute rights to the
/Application/Lotus Notes directory only.
The Spell checker creates all the time three Files (NLPaaa.tmp, NLPbaa.tmp,
NLPcaa.tmp) in the /Application/Lotus Notes directory,
but has no rights to do this in a multiuser environment.
Any idea, how to move the tmp File Path for the Spell Checker?
Thanks for any help,
Lutz

I’m having the same problem too. Brand new install of 6.5.1 on OSX.3.2
Others are working fine. Very strange. us.dic is installed in the data directory, I even deleted the file and reinstalled it with the International preferences.
Will try upgrading mail file and see if that fixes. I sure wish Lotus would fix these Mac OSX.3 bugs.
