Specify different time zone and repeats

Hi guys, problem is this:

Schedule a new meeting and set the start time to 28/04/2008 18:00 (my timezone is GMT London).

Specify a different time zone as parties in Hong Kong will be attending. Set time zone to GMT +08:00. The Local field then correctly displays 10:00 - 11:00 (due to BST the difference is currently 7 hours, not 8 which Notes correctly picks up.)

So far so good…

Then click on repeats. Currently set to daily which displays the correct dates on the right hand side.

Change daily to weekly and the dates on the right get pushed back a day so instead of all the repeats happening on a Monday, they’re all set to repeat the day before instead.

If you try to change the starting date in this window back to the monday, it doesn’t allow you to.

One other thing I’ve noticed is that this doesn’t happen if I schedule the meeting before 17:00. I’ve tried this on a meeting at 16:45 and the error doesn’t occur. It’s just 17:00 and after.

This suggests that It’s taking the 8 hours off the local field again to push it back a day.

Can someone explain why this is happening?

Thanks in advance!

Emma.

Subject: Specify different time zone and repeats

Reading your posting, I was confused why you switched to HK time? (I assume to just make sure you were scheduling the meeting at their expected time) Did you switch back at some point?

It sounds like the system is having a problem because of the +7 hours in the repeat meeting. If you notice 1645 + 7 hours is 2345 the same day. However 1700 + 7 hours is 2400 or the next day (Tuesday). Therefore, if you’re saying you want the meeting to occur on Monday’s, the system would say you’d have to have the meeting on Sunday (not sure iif the tool has the smarts to change the day of the week when doing repeat meeting) your local time to be Monday in Hong Kong.

I think if you just worked in your local time the whole time, everything would be fine.

Not that I’m an expert, that’s just how it looks to me based on my understanding of your post.
