Special database object cannot be located

Windows 7 - Mail client 8.5.1.

When I create a meeting invitation, accept a meeting invitation or just add something to my calendar I get:

An error occurred while saving: Special database object cannot be located.

It does add it to my calendar but I still receive this message. If I try to edit the entry once it’s in my calendar it will not let me save it.

When I accept the meeting invitation - the sender of the invitation receives my acceptance email but since it can’t save the entry once it’s in my calendar the invitation stays at the “you haven’t responded” status and remains greyed out on my calendar.

So it seems that I can add things initially to my calendar but am unable to save them once they are there.

I looked through a few postings in this forum but nothing was specific to calendar entries.

Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Subject: Historically this error is a missing default View…

  • I have applications that have been online for years and years, then one day they’ll start tossing this. It’s because the default View got “lost” somehow, and setting a default View fixes it.

  • I have to say, however, I’ve never seen that happen to mail. Still and all, it’s easy to check it out.

Hope this helps…

Subject: Has anyone found a solution?

We are having this exact problem and it is causing much trouble. I have tried every possible solution I can find on the web, but nothing works. Anyone, please?

Subject: A possible fix

I basically replaced the $Alarms folder. I copied everything in it to a temporary folder first, then copied them back after I replaced it.

Subject: Fixed! Thank you, that was the issue

Subject: Thanks…

Kurt - that worked for me, thanks. The ($Alarms) design element had been signed by someone a long time ago and on upgrading the mailfile this week to 852, that folder has design refresh prohibited. Removed it and it upgraded OK and stopped the error.

Subject: try debugger

enable your lotus script debugger to see where in the code it’s failing. you should be able to determine what it’s looking for, specifically, what note item cannot be found based on the lines of code just prior to where it fails.
