Spam mail on Server

Hi friends,

On my Domino Server.

On some recent days, there are a lot of emails on the mailbox of the Server which has From and Recipients, all are yahoo.

Please show me how to treat this.

Thank you very much.

Subject: denial of service attack

sounds to me like a denial of service attack. someone “found” your server and is using it to route mail through. check the various security features on the router/smtp tab of your server’s config doc.

Subject: Spam mail

I did something like: DNS BlackList Filters: Strengthening trust and safety across the internet | Spamhaus

Deny message from: *@yahoo.com.tw, *@yahoo.de

Enable: Verify that local domain recipients exist in the Domino Directory

all of the above ways were not help.

Can anyone suggest me how to do ?

Spam is such a wonderful thing…

The To/From are a bit deceptive. Think of when you send out a mass message, what’s the best practice? Blind Copy everyone, right? That’s basically what they’ve done. They’ve sent to your users as a blind copy and what they populated that visible “To” field with when they forged the message was their “From” address.

If you’re seeing them in your mail.box I’m guessing they aren’t being delivered. So it’s very likely they were sent to a bad address or sent as low priority and are sitting in queue waiting to be delivered.

Used to see a lot more of these before we turned on recipient validation via LDAP on our inbound mail servers (We filter through the Symantec Brightmail appliance) This cut down on the number of these kinds of dead messages we would see.

So don’t put too much weight on what you see in the mail box. Look over the properties of the message itself or check logs and you’ll get a better idea of what’s going on.
