Space and Performance issue

Hi All

I newly joined the organization and it is my first job to monitor the server So just want to know what should i check on daily basis for space and performance so that server keep work smoothly for example i have been told the we should check the log.nsf if size huge then we can simly rename the log and restart the server and can move old log.nsf to somewhere . I need to know more such kind of tips which we perform as routine on day to day basis to avoid space and performance issue .
