Sort

Hi,I got a table wich contains 4 columns and each column has 100 entries. Each row has two computed and two editable fields. The computed fields are populated from a picklist. The other entries are done by user. I want to sort the values in 1st column, which can be alphanumeric. One needs to keep in mind that while sorting the 1st column, the other entries in table should not be mismatched, i.e. I need to rearrange the other entries too.

Can anyone give an idea, how this can be performed ?

Thank you in advance.

You can use LotusScript to do the sorting; you might use a dynamic array of structures or objects that contain two values – the string you’re sorting by and the corresponding value from the other column. (The calculated columns don’t have to sorted because they can just be recalculated).

There’s no magic technique to make it easy – you will just have to write some code.

One alternative to avoid working with structures, is to use a string array that has both values in each string, separated with a delimiter that sorts before the key data (e.g. space).

Or, you can keep the values in two arrays, and during the sort, just swap elements in both arrays at the same time.

Our Midas Rich Text LSX will allow you to sort tables this way (and has since R4.1, for what that is worth). It is a commercial product, but allows many useful ways to interact with rich text, fields, forms, etc.
