Here’s a number of issues that I had with the Beta in a week of working with it. Sadly I’m now back on 8.0.1…
I had what appeared to an ACL issue with DDE: A Database on 8.5 server with myself only present inthe CAL as a group entry opened OK from Notes 8.5 client. However, opening in from DDE:
-
designer opens to blank tab page titled com.ibm.designer.domino.ui.editors.designEditor.name
-
server displays message ATTEMPT TO ACCESS DATABASE by
Using the groups and roles button on the client’s status bar shows that access is via a group.
If I then place my name directly in the ACL I can open it in Designer!!
If I click an item in a list of items in DDE - say a list of forms, the form opens but the focus remains on the design object list, not the newly opened form (or whatever)
Categories vanished in at least two database views. In one case, I had to copy the view design back from a backup after having edited it to get the categories back. But ina standard Discussion database based on the Notes 7 discussion design, the categories were just gone (that’s the category headings in the view). The only way I could get them back was to replace the design with the 4.6 discussion design.
I did a search in DDE for some text that appears in a piece of LotusScript. Nice that DDE searches multiple databases. The result was a list of hits. So far so good.
I doubled-clicked a list entry, and the LS opened a different editor, not the regular old LS editor. It allowed me to change the text and save it, whereupon the Design element (it was an agent) was unusable - could not be opened - from the conventional agent edit pane. No error messages; just nothing happened.
DDE “Working Sets” are a great idea, but they seem to lose content; so when you select one, you may find that nothing appears, or only some of the apps appear. Edit the working set doesn’t always appear, and then you may also find that when the Working set is Managed, the list has lost entries. Also, having uninstalled 8.5b1 and reinstalled 8.0.1, the Select Working Sets toolbar item has appeared in my 8.0.1 client!
