One of my users has a curious problem. Some arriving messages make it to his Inbox. Others don’t, only appearing in his All Documents view. It seems more or less random. Some messages, such as QuickPlace notices, never appear in the Inbox. Others (originating from anywhere – our domain or Internet) may or may not arrive in the Inbox.
I’ve tried:
-
disabling ALL mail rules (admin and user);
-
replacing the design of the mail db (Inbox NOT protected from design refresh/replace); and
-
disabling IMAP for the database (which may or may not have previously been enabled).
Problem still exists.
The server and client are both 6.5.1. The mail template is inotes6.ntf. Roaming user.
Anyone know what might be causing this?
Subject: Some new messages arrive in Inbox; others don’t
Rob, I had a problem where no or a couple of e-mail’s were showing in an inbox, but all did in All Documents. I tried everything you listed to no avail. I finally had to create a folder called oldin, and copied all the inbox docs to oldin, then went into Designer and opened up the user’s database and deleted the $inbox. Then when I refreshed the design of the db, a new $inbox was created, and the user hasn’t had a problem since. Hope this helps.

Yup…the fix described above will take care of the issue 9 / 10 times. Refresh/replace won’t… you must delete the inbox folder. Make sure you follow the concepts decribed above.
Cheers,
Neil
Subject: What about the 10th time?
I tried the technique described. I made another folder (oldinbox). Moved the contents of $Inbox there. Deleted $Inbox. Refreshed. Moved everything from oldinbox to $Inbox.
It seemed to work for a few days. But now it’s broken again.
Thanks, anyway, for your input. rk
