Some basic Replication question

So one of my databases is getting enough global use that it’s finally been replicated, unfortunately this is all new to me and i’m stumbling on a few things:

I did not perform the replication, i’m in a large company and the IT dept did it without giving me a name to contact with questions… so i’m here. sorry!

The Database did not completely replicate: There are only 5 views when there should be about 25 though it looks like forms and pages all made it.

likewise for many other items, only 1 agent of 20, 1 outline of 5, etc.

The documents also did not replicate, there are only 30 when there should be ~1000

Some questions:

  1. I am nearer to the location of the Replica, can i make design changes on the replica rather than the original (the replica is much more responsive)

  2. Can i “force” the replication by copying and pasting the missing design elements? Or is this a bad idea?

  3. same question goes for documents.

Thanks, and i apologie if these are noob questions.

DO NOT copy anything. The copied elements will appear to the system as new, different notes, so if a proper replication ever happens you will have duplicates everywhere. Right-click on the database icon on your workspace and select Replication->Replicate, then choose the server to replicate with. That will force a replication – but it will be a foreground replication, so you might want to grab a coffee.

That did it (fortunately I had a well placed meeting to attend)

So i assume that so long long as i only make changes to one replica or the other, i’ll be fine? i don’t have to stick to the original?

Thanks!

If all servers have the necessary ACL rights to make additions, modifications, and deletions on all other replicas, then you can make your changes anywhere.
