After changing database navigation and setting the lotus database ot launch a frameset we began to get invaldi or nonexistent document error where trying to open the database.
This was NOT a mail database, rather an application database.
The forum said try updall, fixup, compact, replace design, try local replica, try local copies. I made sure their was a default form and view and full text index, about database document, checked security and all of that… No matter what the error persisted.
Finally I made a local copy of the database with and without the documents - same result still error.
So one by one I removed batches of design elements:
all framesets, checked, still error, all views, checked - still error…till finally I stumbled upon the ‘Other’ - ‘Database Resources’ - ‘Database Script’ (‘Other’ is at the bottom of the list of design elements in designer client).
Low and behold in the “Database Script” section was some old code froma former developer inciting some launch routine to olf navigators that were long removed.
On my local copy I deleted the script.
Problem solved.
On my server copy I went into the script, edited it and blanked it out and resaved. - Problem still there.
Then on server copy I deleted the Database Script and viola - problem fixed.
The updall and other tricks might be relevant for mail file related issues but if you have another databse situation like I did with this error, I suggest you do as I did and check any Database Scripts and delete them.
Hope this saves someone the hour I wasted trying to figure this out.
