I’ve been recently dealing with several cases where, after working fine for a few days to a few months, suddenly the Welcome Page and any opened emails (even in the preview pane) are blank. The Welcome page seems to show only the background – no words, frames, icons. The emails appear to be all letterhead background, no words or To, CC or BCC lines. However, at the bottom of the emails you do have a section separator which you can pull up to read the message – but no other action appears possible.
I read in this forum about deleting the bookmarks.nsf, bookmarks.ntf, desktop6.ndk AND the cache.ndk. Replace the bookmarks.ntf and reopen Notes. This has apparently worked for other people. It didn’t work for me.
Then I began to notice that other things on the computer were ALSO not viewable, like the WebMail window, and all or part of other applications. The user had not mentioned this before or hadn’t seen it herself. This led us to check general computer settings and we discovered that the monitor driver needed updating. Ran the update, rebooted, and everything is now working fine.
Just because it’s happening in Notes does not mean the culprit is Notes. This one drove me nuts for almost three weeks. Hopefully, this will save someone else the frustration.
