Soft Deletions on but trash does not empty

In our mail environment with about 5000 mailboxes we have a great number of boxes for which the trash does not get emptied.

We have soft-deletions enabled with an expire time of 48 hours.

For some this does work for most it doesn´t work. Any idea anyone, or others that run into the same problem?

I have skimmed this forum but did not see any specifically related topics or the same issue.

We have Domino version 602cf2 on AIX.

We have been experiencing similar problems with the soft deletes. We are running Domino 6.5.3 fp1 on AIX 5.2 in a clustered environment. Like you said it is not consistent and in some we have fixed it. What we did was turn off soft deletes which empties the trash and then turn them back on. We have also experienced problems where documents that should have been deleted do not go to the trash are removed from the inbox and stay in the all documents and mail threads view. Have you experienced similar problems?
