Hi All, my client has asked me if I can advise on how much traffic is being sent/received on the SMTP protocol, however I dont know if this is easibly obtainable information and wondering if anyone is aware on how to get this information (if possible)?
I dont have a lot of IBM Domino mail experience but I have read online and I saw from an IBM article that the Notes client can interact with the Domino server using its own Notes protocols, which I assume for the majority of traffic i.e. connections to Domino, internal Notes client to Notes client email must be the case.
I know that the SMTP protocol has been configured on all of the Domino mail servers (4 servers) in the clients environment.
The client has a DNS A record for SMTP, which a variety of applications and other services relay through. They do not have a load balancer and dont use DNS round robin, so the traffic is pointing to one server. If that server needs to have maintenance, then they manually update the A record to point to another server.
Is there any way possible I can check to see the volume of SMTP traffic on all servers? Not sure if I can do this centrally from the Admin console, or if I’d need to check each server individually?
I dont have any experience with lotus script, or many of the options within Domino admin so apologies if I ask some basic follow up questions.
Thanks in advance.
