SMTP Server: Error storing received message

Hi

We have one external customer tying to email us. I see in our domino server logs under Mail Routing and Misc Events the following entry when his email is briefly accepted by the domino mail server.

SMTP Server: Error storing received message

The sender then received a non delivery report back saying…

Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists: user@user.user.com

An error occurred while trying to deliver this message to the recipient’s e-mail address. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please try resending this message, or provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator.

The following organization rejected your message:

Our external mail system has these entries in its logs for the rejection…

451 4.7.1 Greylisting in action, please come back later mailsweeper

554 Error writing message to = safe storage; message could not be stored to disk

We have two domino domains (2 separte servers) that share the external mails system. One domino domain receives the mails no problem, the other has the problem above.

Nothing has suddenly changed on that domino server.

The only difference is the server with the problem has Domino 8.5.1 installed but running names.nsf and admin4.nsf template StdR4 which I have not got round to updating to V8.5.

The problem is only happening from one customer.

Any ideas?

Subject: Old Technotes

I did a quick search on ‘Error writing message to = safe storage’ and a couple of old technotes showed up:

The second one mentions recreating mail.box - maybe worth a try. To do so, exit Domino, rename the existing mail.box file(s), and start Domino. New mail.box files(s) should automatically be recreated.
