After installing Domino v6.0.1 on a new server and copying over the Notes/Data dir from a 4.6.7a server, I am able to receive SMTP inbound mail, but, unable to send any out. When restoring the 4.6.7a data from tape, I selected “do not overwrite existing data”.
I have run nfixup, ncompact, and nupdall on the names.nsf. All interoffice mail is fine.
Any ideas how to resolve this issue?
Thanks.

Is your SMTP task enabled ? You need to do so in the server document.
Have you configured a configuration document for your SMTP server, and have you created a Global Domain document ?
cheers,

Did you enable “SMTP used when sending messages outside of the local internet domain” on the Router/SMTP tab of the configuration document for your server?

Thanks everyone… I found I had the SMTP listener task disabled for my servers not directly connected to the internet. Once enabled, it worked fine.

when the smtp server cannot send email its always the dns settings make sure that the dns settings are correct and that the domino server can resolve the address of the external domains properly otherwise the server will not be able to send emails to the internet.
