SMTP Protocol Returned a Permanent Error

I have an issue with outgoing smtp mail. 3 servers are R6.5.1 and another one is R6.5.4 but they all have the same problem.When the smtp mails are forwarded to the smarthost (it’s McAfee webshield), the errors below appears

Error transferring to xx.xx.xx.xx; SMTP Protocol Returned a Permanent Error

400 Remove system not responding (but if you do a telnet on port 25, it’s responding)

also I noticed that the smtp task is very very slow.

on the R6.5.4 it takes more than 5 minutes to send a single mail to the smtp relay (smarthost)

It does not depends of the size of the mail, (1k or 2Mb mail takes more than 5 minutes each)

do you have more then one nic on your server ?Case domino allway try to use the first NIC to send out smtp message.

Smart host is diff from relay host.Don’t confuse both concepts. how do you set your connection document to your relay server (no of pending mail to start routing)?
