SMTP problems: sending email

Hello,

There is one mail domain we aren’t able to send email to.

If I send an email, I get no console entry, no entry in log.nsf. The

mail is in mail.box and with resending from mail.box no reaction.

Restarting the server - no sending

Reindexing names.nsf - no sending

The problem came one day (three weeks ago), went away for two days and

is coming up again.

At OS DNS site everything is ok. I can telnet port 25 of the mail

server and can to an SMPT communication at OS site.

Any ideas?

The most confusing things for me are, that there is no entry at the

server console (we have detailled smtp logging enabled)and only one

domain (not only a special email address at this domain) is the

problem.

If I send an email from my freemailer to this domain, no problem.

It must be a Domino problem

Thanx in advance

Manfred

did you try to do a “tell router show queues” ? (restart the router task to be sure the message is being processed), this command will show the status of current messages

Another potential problem is the antivirus software, some of them “freeze” the mail until it is checked

Hope this helps

Christian

Subject: RE: SMTP problems: sending email

Hello,

that was not the problem.

It seems that there is a communication problem between the Domino and the Windows 2003 DNS server.

If I change the DNS to another Server (not Windows 2003) it works.

But unknown is the cause of the problem.
