SMTP Permanent error

Hi

Does anyone have a workaround for this issue I´m Running 9.0.1 client against one.com (ISP) on win8.1 Same config works just fine on Notes 8.5 on win 7

Replicator error is “SMTP returned a permanent error”

“Mail from” is set to my valid E-mail i Notes 8.5 but not in 9.0.1

Any ideas for a solution or Workaround ???

Subject: Recreate Location document

Hi Peter,

I know we have now resolved this issue for you in a PMR (many thanks for opening this!) - as such, the following is more for the benefit of other customers who may run across the same issue searching for the error. We are also currently creating a new TechNote to document this for easy reference.

  • When the Location document field for ‘Internet address’ is populated, the user ID in use is stored in the ‘ImailAddressUpdatedBy’ item, which can be seen in the document properties. The ‘ImailAddressUpdatedBy’ field is used to ensure a match between the active user ID, and the user ID of the person who updated the Internet address field. If these values match, the InetFrom field is set with the Internet address and the SMTP conversation should show “MAIL FROM: ”. If the fields do not match, the InetFrom field will not be set, resulting in a blank MAIL FROM.

Even though the Internet address field may be correctly populated, the next steps in troubleshooting will be to update this:

  1. Try deleting the Internet address value, saving and closing the Location document, opening the document, entering the address again, and saving the document. You will need to ensure the user ID in use will match the active user ID when sending mail.
  2. If #1 is unsuccessful, delete the Location document and recreate it manually.

We will have the new TechNote available in the coming weeks, but perhaps this may be helpful to someone with the same issue in the meantime.

Subject: Re “SMTP returned a permanent error”

You can add “SMTPClientdebug=3” to your notes.ini file and next time you open Notes and send (try to send) mail via SMTP you’ll be able to trace where it failed by reading “notes.log”.

hopefully this should help identify the source of the error !
