Smtp inbound restriction

  1. Can my collegaues send email from Internet via my smtp server to outsider by login name and password control before sending this email?What’s the setting in smtp inbound control?

  2. Can the outgoing email of item 1 be kept in his lotud notes mailbox?

  3. If a user uses a Pocket PC for item 1 and item 2, waht can he do?

  1. Yes, take a look in the configuration document for the server. The tab Router/SMTP-Restrictions and Controls-SMTP Inbound Controls. Look for the section Inbound Relay Enforcement and the value for Exceptions for authenticated users. Choose Allow all authenticated users to relay.

  2. It depends on. If the clients are using IMAP you can do it in the setup of the clients.

  3. I don’t know enough about Pocket PC to be sure, but if you can use an IMAP client there should be no difference from the above.

For item 1, can the user use Outlook for user authentication?

If yes, some PocketPC can be used when they support Outlook.

Outlook shouldn’t be a problem. In my own environment am I using Mozilla Thunderbird but I had Outlook Express earlier. The only problem I hade with Outlook was that some clients didn’t authenticate correctly before they tried to send the mail.
