Hi,All our domino mail servers ( version 6.5.5 and 7.02) show this SMTP error message 2562 when sending a SMTP outbound message which has a bad address with a char ex:
abcd@hotmail.com`
the char is a following or a trailing `
Domino router tries to send this message and then disconnects with the above error and all SMTP messages start to backup. Till we manually remove this message all SMTP messages start to backup in the mail.box. For some reason we dont get a 5xx smtp error and there is no delivery failure. The message just sits in the mail.box.
Can anyone reproduce this problem? I am unsure if this is just our environment or this can be reproduced.
In MAIL.BOX you see a “to” address with single quotes:
‘jdoaks@company.com’
Rather than deleting the message simply edit it right there in MAIL.BOX and remove the single quotes. VOILA - all start routing!! I have not yet found a Lotus-provided solution for this…but it dosen;t happen too often. If it does for you, you might ask the sender how they create their sending addresses so that they can remove the single quotes at the source.
